Kevin has been designing gardens and landscapes for over 20 years.
Prior to this, Kevin’s initial training/background was being ‘hands on’ in the landscape industry. He trained at Merrist Wood College where he became fully qualified in both Landscape Construction and Horticulture. Thereafter, he formed and ran his own very successful landscape company, Sussex Landscapes for 15+yrs, where he gained an enviable knowledge in all aspects of the industry.
Landscape and garden design was his natural progression where again he qualified in all aspects and is now a full member of The Society of Garden Designers.
Following continuing back troubles (now resolved) Kevin decided to concentrate full time on landscape and garden design. Kevin has designed literally 100’s of gardens and his design portfolio is impressive to say the least. His works range from designing the smallest planting plan to his largest project to date being the complete re-design/development and project management of a 16 acre estate.
Each project is given Kevin’s individual attention whether it be a small town garden for a private client or a larger corporate project. All his designs and drawings are prepared to a standard of excellence, with each given equal attention to the finest details and from very exacting briefs.
Kevin’s style as can be seen from his portfolio is very adaptable, ranging from very traditional designs through to highly contemporary gardens. The chosen style for each design is well researched through communication with the client covering lifestyle/family, the property and its surroundings, and most importantly the clients own preferences.
The majority of Kevin’s commissions come by recommendation, and his clientele range from numerous private clients with domestic gardens ranging from very small terraced properties to clients with exceedingly large estates, and with every variably sized garden in between, all creating their own inherent challenges, to:
Small and large architects and developers, Castillian, Langridge, Conoley, Honeygrove, Berkley, Gleeson, to name but a few, with projects ranging from one individual house sold off plan, the garden then being customised solely to that particular client, to small but prestigious developments some with restricted landscaping/budget, all normally with planning requirements/conditions.
Also small and large corporate projects involving B&Q, Toyota UK, Transcar etc.
Budgets (including build/planting costs) range considerably between £3500 – £1.5m+
Kevin has taught periodically at The College of Garden Design, Chichester College, Brinsbury, Havant College, and has talked on BBC Radio.
Kevin won a very prestigious British Landscape Industries National Award 2003 for a Garden that he designed in Guildford, and we are delighted that Kevin has also won The British Landscape Industries National Award 2006 for a garden in Kent, and also the Express Newspapers New Homes Gardens National Award 2006.
More recently Kevin has just won The Association of Professional Landscapers National Award 2016 – for a garden that he designed in Richmond -Surrey – (the plan and photographs can be seen in the portfolio pages)
